In the last few days, most of the multimedia channels were filled with news about the spreading of Coronavirus, the death plunges it bought with itself, and the preventions to take. But are you all aware of what exactly is the Coronavirus, how it came into the news so drastically, and how to prevent ourselves from catching it? Let’s discuss everything in this article.

What is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus belongs to the family of viruses called Coronaviridae that is known to affect the respiratory functioning of mammals, including humans. Its effects include the common cold and sore throat. This illness or the symptoms last only for a short time and are common among people in the world. Some symptoms may include a runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat, weakness, fever, etc.

How did Coronavirus reach the news?

In the Wuhan City of China on 31st December 2019, the World Health Organization was alerted with the multiple cases of pneumonia and problems with the common cold. Cases were sent to the laboratory and were checked by the researchers, but they didn’t find any known viruses linked with the disease. This was a point of concern for the WHO, as when the virus is new, we are not aware of its effects, which might cause more significant harm.

The spreading of this disease didn’t stop, and several cases were coming up each day in the city. On 7th January 2020, the Chinese authorities confirmed that they had found a new virus. They didn’t know the exact name of the new virus, and thus temporarily named it as 2019-Nov.

Death Toll Climbs

The number of cases registered and known rose nearly by a third overnight. The test kits were lead short to the number of cases the doctors were treating daily.

In China, the death toll number reaches 132, which is enormous. The number of registered cases since 31st January 2019 has been 6000, which proves to be a drastic increase.

Other than China

Other nations have also been affected by the Coronavirus with its harmful effects. Japan has reported seven deaths, France 4, Thailand 18, Hong Kong 8, Vietnam 2, United States, Taiwan, Australia, Macau, Singapore, South Korea, and Malaysia have reported about 4-5 cases.

The most unfortunate fact is that the virus spreads from human-to-human, and thus the spreading has been more comfortable and vulnerable for people all over the globe. In the coming days and weeks, the spreading of the virus and the multiples of cases is most likely to be seen.

The World Health Organization, along with other major medical experts, is recommending people to reduce exposure to dirty places and polluted air. It is recommendable that you don’t be around people affected by the virus and maintain sanitary hygiene all the time. The most important of all, maintain peace around yourself.
