India has so many mountains which comes under a list of the tallest mountain. The topmost tallest mountain is Himalaya. India is home to many of Earth’s highest peaks. Below is the list of top highest mountains in India.

 

Kanchenjunga, Sikkim

Kanchenjunga/Kangchenjunga/Kinchinjunga comes under the third highest mountain in the world. It is having a height of nearly 8,586 meters (28,169 feet). This mountain situated in the eastern Himalaya on the border region between the Sikkim state of India, and the Eastern region of Nepal to the 74Km (46 miles) northwest of Darjiling, Sikkim. This mountain is part of the Great Himalaya. This mountain is old about 445 million to 1 billion years.

Nanda Devi Mountain, Uttarakhand

Nanda Devi mountain located entirely within the India’s borders. This mountain is the second highest peak in India. This mountain is surrounded by lots of myth and legend. The height of the mountain is about 7,816 meters (25,643 feet). It is surrounded by an impenetrable sanctuary of solitude so it has been closed to climber from 1983.

The CIA and Indian Intelligence Bureau have attempted to place the Nuclear Powered Monitoring Device on the top of the mountain in order to observe missile activity from China.

 

Kamet, Uttarakhand

Kamet mountain peak which is located in Uttarakhand, in Garhwal region and near the border of Tibet region, China. This mountain is having a height of about 7,756 meters (25,446 feet). This mountain was first climbed in the year 1931.

Kamet mountain is a piece of Zanskar range, Which lies to the north of the great Himalaya.  Kamet word is taken from the Tibetans as “Kangmen” which meaning is “immense grandma of a holy snow chain”.

 

Saltoro Kangri, Jammu & Kashmir

Saltoro Kangri mountain is the sub-range of Karakoram Range. This mountain is the highest peak of the Saltoro Mountain. Saltoro Kangri is also known as K10. It is located in the region of Jammu and Kashmir. It has a height of nearly 7.742 meters (2,5400 feet). This mountain was climbed in the year 1911-12.

 

Saser Kangari, Ladakh

Saser Kangri/ Sasir Kangri is the highest peak in the Saser Muztagh in India. It is the sub-range of Karakoram Range. It is located in the Ladakh. Saser kangri is having a height of 7,672 meters (25,171 feet). The first climbing was in the year 1973.

 

Siachen Glacier for Tourist, Ladakh

Siachen Glacier is located in the Eastern Karakoram range in the great Himalaya in Ladakh.  It is the longest glacier in the Karakoram range. It is having a height of up to 5,753 meters (18,875 feet). It is allowed for tourists in this region.
